During my junior and senior years of high school, I was the lead editor on cat+fish, the High School of Art and Design's independent student-led magazine.
The magazine was written by a team of 30 high school art students (which I led), then printed in partnership with the School of Visual Arts. Don't let the "high school magazine" label fool you; the final product was about as professional as they get.
When I took over managing the internship in 2023, the first course of action was to finish and print the leftover second issue from the previous year. After a long and arduous production cycle, cat+fish emerged with Issue 2: Go Fish. The cover here was done by the great Calvin Ordonez, with all the rest of the visual work shown here done by me.

At the beginning of my second year running the internship, the team decided it would be best to do an admins-only mini magazine to help us get back into the swing of things. After a mere six weeks, we had the first (and only) issue of Catfish Canned. All visual work shown
here is mine.
After Canned, my second and final year steering the ship was spent on Issue 3: Overdue. This was the first big issue that was created entirely during my tenure, with no writing or ideas carried over from the last main editor. For all of these issues, but especially this one, I handled editing of words, editing of visuals, running interviews, online and offline marketing, creating layout and visuals for several spreads, and the cover and back cover designs. Out of all the stuff created during my tenure at Catfish, this one was my baby more than any other. All visual work shown here is mine.
